Transfer your product catalog from Prom.ua to your own online store

Why merchants leave Prom.ua and how to migrate without losing products or customers — we break it down in this guide. In short: import categories → product types and characteristics → import products → set up the main and mobile menu → preserve SEO → export back to Prom.ua.

Why merchants leave Prom.ua: price, flexibility, speed

Prom.ua is the largest Ukrainian sales platform, and for many it becomes a starting point. But as the business grows, more and more store owners think about their own website. There are several main reasons why merchants move from Prom.ua to their own online stores.

💰 High hosting and tariff costs

Prom.ua works on a subscription, and as the catalog grows, the tariff cost rises. For comparison: a catalog of 10,000 products in 2026 on Prom.ua costs about $290 per year, while on BooStore.pro the same volume is only $90 per year. Moreover, BooStore works with no sales commissions: you pay a fixed amount, not a percentage of each sale.

⚙ Lack of flexibility

On Prom.ua you are limited by templates, card structure and platform rules. You cannot fully control design, SEO, discounts, customer groups, forms and integrations. Your own store on a SaaS platform gives you full control over the storefront, catalog and promotion.

🐢 Slow speed

On Prom.ua your catalog competes for speed with thousands of other stores on shared infrastructure. Page speed directly affects both conversion and SEO. BooStore.pro is built on lightweight block-based markup without jQuery, with 0.1–0.3 sec caching and PageSpeed up to 100/100 — noticeably faster.

🔗 Dependence on the Prom service

Your business fully depends on the platform: blocking is possible, as are high advertising prices and a percentage of sales. On your own site you do not risk losing the store because of someone else's rules and you control promotion channels yourself.

Solution: Move the catalog to your own online store and keep Prom.ua as one of your sales channels — via a CSV price feed. This way you keep marketplace traffic and build an independent business at the same time. How to set this up is described below.

To begin, create an online store on BooStore and choose a template

Before moving the catalog, create an online store on BooStore and choose a suitable design template. It only takes a few minutes: register, pick a template and prepare the store for filling with the catalog.

Before the migration: hide the site from search engines and plan the domain

While the catalog migration is in progress, the site lives on a temporary domain. Do this right away — hide the site from search engines so Google does not index the draft, and plan the domain launch order in advance.

Hide the site from search engines before launch: while you are moving the catalog, the site is still on a temporary domain. Before the full launch it is advisable to hide it from search engines so Google does not index the draft. This is done in the section «Settings» → «About the site» → «Access» → «Close access». Once everything is migrated and the site is ready — access is removed and the site opens for indexing.
Recommended domain launch order: first move the entire catalog to the new site in closed mode (access closed). Then, if the domain is the same, replace it in the settings while opening access to the site and making 301 redirects for all necessary pages (this can be set up by importing pairs from CSV). If the domain will be different — first fill the site, then with the connected domain open access to the new site.

Step 1. Export the product catalog from Prom.ua

The first step is to export your products from the Prom.ua seller account into a file that can be imported into the new store. Prom.ua lets you download your own catalog as a price list (CSV, Excel) or XML export.

1

Log into the Prom.ua seller account

Sign in to the seller account and find the product management section (usually «My products» or «Product catalog»).

2

Download the price list

Use the price export function: choose the CSV, Excel (XLS) or, if available, XML format. Make sure all the needed fields are included: name, SKU, price, stock, description, photo, category, characteristics.

3

Check the file

Open the exported file in a spreadsheet and make sure there are no broken rows. You do not need to add missing fields — they are already on Prom.ua. If some product was not on Prom.ua either, fill in the path to its images, for example to files hosted on any website.

Important: Prom.ua exports only what you have in the seller account. If some products were sold only on Prom.ua without a price list — add them manually or via a spreadsheet in the new store. The rule «exported — checked — imported» will protect you from duplicates and mistakes.

Step 2. Import categories (with icons) Key

Catalog import starts not with products, but with categories. The Prom.ua price list already contains categories, so first we recreate the catalog structure on BooStore.pro, and only then attach products to it.

1

Define the list of categories

The downloaded Prom.ua file contains categories. If the export gives categories together with icons — they will load automatically: BooStore supports importing categories including icons, if they are specified in the «Image» cell during import. If there are no icons in the export — just take the list of all your categories from the product catalog.

2

Import the categories

In the admin panel open «Store» → «Store categories» and use the category import. It is recommended to save the categories into a separate file before importing — it is easier to match cells, descriptions and category images accurately.

3

Specify the text, icon, description and parent category name

When importing a category you set the data: text (name), icon, description and name — the name becomes the category path. The main thing is to be sure to specify the parent category name: only then you get correct navigation and category nesting.

4

Configure icons and SEO URLs

Add icons to categories for the menu (SVG is supported) and set up human-readable addresses. This will be useful at Step 5 when building a dropdown menu from categories.

Important note: it is also recommended to create a parent category «Store» for convenient navigation and management. It is easy: add one more row to the import file or create the category manually. For example, name it «store», or «store_ru» / «store_ua» for a multilingual structure (linking the language in the name helps you navigate and avoid confusion).

If the file import is skipped or there are few categories, there is a quick category import from the clipboard or manual category creation — without files.

Producers (brands) are added in the same way, and it is even simpler: create a main rubric «Producers» in the needed language and insert them via quick import (or via file import if you need descriptions and icons). Quick import creates categories without texts. Producers are used in the catalog filter and in exports (in the Google and Prom.ua feed they go out as producer).

Detailed instructions — in the BooStore.pro knowledge base on store categories.

Step 3. Add product types and characteristics to the site database Important

After the categories are imported, you need to prepare the characteristics so you can later assign them to products. On BooStore.pro characteristics are grouped by product types, and the product type is created first.

1

Create product types

Go to «Store» → «Product types and characteristics» and create a product type. If there is one type — create one; if several — create several. For example, the type «Sneakers» or «T-shirts».

2

Add characteristics and values

Insert all product properties into the created type (purpose, material, size, color). For values choose the type «Multiple selection (Checkbox)» — it is recommended in the search filter, so a buyer can check several values at once and search by different properties. Values can be quickly pasted from the clipboard — dozens and hundreds at once.

3

Enable comparison if desired

If you plan product comparison, check the «Compare» box on the characteristics that will participate. Comparison itself is enabled in the general site settings: «Settings» → «Store» → «Product view/Tabs» → «Product comparison» — enable. It can be enabled both for the product list and when viewing a separate product card.

An important difference between BooStore.pro and Prom.ua: the system can read product characteristics both from different cells of the file and from one common cell. This gives flexibility during import — no need to fit the price structure to a strict template.

Important: If a property is not added to the product type and characteristics in advance, it will be skipped — undefined during the subsequent product import. Therefore all properties are prepared before importing products (at this step).

Full instructions on product types, characteristics, the search filter and comparison — in the BooStore.pro knowledge base.

Step 4. Import the catalog (products) Step by step

Now that categories and characteristics are ready, you can import products. BooStore.pro can fill the store from files: CSV, XLS, XML, Google Sheets. If you have a Prom.ua XML export (for example, in Yandex Market XML format), you can use it — BooStore reads the price structure and takes products, categories and characteristics automatically.

1

Prepare the characteristics in the file

Sort the products by categories. Seeing the category, specify the corresponding product type right in the cell so BooStore reads the properties correctly. All characteristics of each product can be combined into one cell (each property on a new line within one cell).

2

Import with the option «Split the cell with images»

On Prom.ua all product images are in one cell of the file. Enable the «Split the cell with images» option — the system will automatically split the image list and load each one as a separate product image.

3

Enable «Rewrite images in text»

If a product image name matches an image inside the description, BooStore automatically rewrites that path to the already created product image path. This matters for SEO: if descriptions contain paths to images and the same images are already uploaded to the products, they will be taken from the new site, not from Prom.ua. Enable the «Rewrite images in text» option so images in descriptions point to the uploaded files — there will be no broken links or dependence on the old domain.

4

Map the price fields and click «Import»

During import you decide which field of the Prom.ua price list is assigned to which cell. The data loads, and characteristics appear in the cards and in the search filter.

Tip for the first import: Before loading the whole catalog, set a row limit «from — to» and import a test set of products. Test the result and save the field mapping — it will be useful for the subsequent import of the rest of the catalog with the same template.

Guide on adding products manually — in the BooStore.pro knowledge base. Below is a video specifically about product import:

Step 6. Mobile menu: auto-fill and setup

A mobile menu is always recommended — it is optimized for mobile devices and loads fast. It is more convenient to create it after the main menu so that the items are filled automatically.

1

Create the mobile menu

In the «My Blocks/Menus» section choose the «Mobile menu: App» widget and click «Add mobile Block/Menu». The menu activates on screens smaller than 768px.

2

Auto-fill from the main menu or import fields

The mobile menu is easily filled with main menu data automatically. If needed, set up the items manually via field import, export or by loading the structure from JSON (for example, from an AI response «make a clear catalog structure from these items»).

3

Configure the appearance

Set the colors of the mobile menu and icons, upload your own icons, change the order of icons (cart, search, filter, favorites, comparison, forms). You can hide the main header on mobile or replace the menu call button via «Menu Activation».

4

Enable filters, search and the language switcher

In the mobile menu you can enable the search filters display (recommended), site search, and a language switcher — if several languages are enabled in the settings. Your own icons, your own style, the icon order and the colors of the expanding items can be set. There are ready-made color presets.

Detailed instructions — in the BooStore.pro knowledge base on creating a mobile menu.

Step 7. Russian and Ukrainian product descriptions («Product in other languages»)

Prom.ua buyers are used to descriptions in Russian and Ukrainian. So that you do not lose them during the move, product cards on BooStore.pro can be maintained in several languages.

The mechanism is simple: a product card is created in one language, and the version in another language is linked to it via the «Product in other languages» parameter. It is better to make the code (SKU) of the versions different, for example by adding a language label «_ru» / «_ua», or by leaving the label only on one version and the original on the other. All identical products in different languages must have the «Product in other languages» parameter with the same value. This lets you manage them together — availability, price and promos are fully synced (except descriptions, since they are in different languages).

For categories too: if the site is in two languages, it is important to create categories in all languages and specify the same values of the «Categories in other languages» parameter — this makes navigation management convenient. Characteristic values and product types do not need to be translated into every language — there is a translation tool on the «Product types and characteristic values» page.

Enabling languages is configured in the section «Settings» → «Languages and start page»: here you check all the needed languages and specify the default start page language. After that you can enable the language switcher in the mobile menu or in the header — it will automatically open the correct paths between products and categories if «Product in other languages» and «Categories in other languages» are set.

💡 Why it matters for Prom.ua: The Prom.ua feed (CSV price) can be exported immediately in Russian and Ukrainian with descriptions filled in both languages. For this the product card must be created in both languages with the same «Product in other languages» parameter. Proper multilingual support solves this task right away.

Step 8. Preserving SEO: redirects, sitemap, indexing

One of the main fears during a move is losing search positions. To prevent this, the new store must get an «SEO skeleton» and the old pages — correct redirects.

🔀 SEO URLs and 301 redirects

Set up human-readable addresses and 301 redirects from the old Prom.ua pages to the new ones so Google transfers the link weight and positions.

🗺 Sitemap sitemap.xml

Connect sitemap.xml and add it to Search Console — this speeds up indexing of the new catalog.

📝 SEO meta and Schema.org

Fill in meta_title, meta_description and Schema.org markup on products and categories for better display in search results.

⚡ Speed

A fast site with caching and PageSpeed 100/100 holds positions better than a slow catalog on a shared platform.

Full SEO guide — in the article on website SEO.

Site move in Google Search Console: add both sites to the Google webmaster panel — the old and the new one. Then from the old site set up a 301 redirect to the new one, and the webmaster panel will let you enable the «Change of Address» item, where you specify from which domain to which. If the domain does not change, a simple 301 redirect is enough.
BooStore additional service: if you have a large catalog and it is difficult to make a correct 301 redirect, BooStore.pro provides such a service — it is important not to change the product code. We perform redirects for thousands of products for $150 (paid separately).

Step 9. Showing the catalog on the homepage

To show the needed categories or products on the homepage, use a flexible widget. For example, the products widget will show selected products or new arrivals, and the categories widget will display a list of categories with icons anywhere on the site — including the homepage.

Simple setup: in the widget it is enough to specify the display mode and the main category to start from. The catalog, categories and products are displayed automatically from the already imported data.
💡 Note: no matter how the category catalog is built, it is still recommended to create a main category «Store» — it is convenient to build navigation and homepage catalog output from it.

More on showing products on pages — in the «Products widget» instruction from the BooStore.pro knowledge base.

Step 10. Regular export of products from the new site to Prom

Leaving Prom.ua is not necessary at all. The best option is to build your own store and keep selling on Prom.ua as on a marketplace. For this BooStore.pro has a ready-made export for exchanging data with Prom — it is in the admin panel in the «CSV XML XLS Exports» section, where you select Prom. In the export settings you can specify which markup to pass to Prom (that is, change product prices «on the fly») or set such a markup individually in each category — specifically for exporting to Prom (or to Rozetka and other marketplaces — individually). This is convenient because Prom takes an extra percentage for sales.

1

Find the Prom export in the admin panel

In the BooStore.pro admin panel open the «CSV XML XLS Exports» section and select Prom — take the address of the file csv_promua_feed.csv. It is generated automatically at your store's address.

2

Configure the language and descriptions

The price list is exported immediately in Russian and Ukrainian in a format Prom.ua understands «out of the box». For this the product cards must be created in both languages with the same «Product in other languages» parameter (see Step 7).

3

Pass the price link to Prom.ua

Specify the CSV price address in the Prom.ua seller account settings as the product source. Prom.ua will automatically pick up updated prices and stock from your site.

What is exported: Only products are exported (without categories). If you created Ukrainian and Russian product cards and linked them with the «Product in other languages» parameter, they are not exported as two separate items — BooStore combines them into one record and sends it to the price feed immediately with the product translated into both languages, according to Prom.ua price feed requirements (2 languages go in one card, as Prom requires). This is an ideal «bridge»: one catalog, and sales — both on your site and on Prom.ua.

The general mechanism of working with marketplaces (Rozetka, Prom, Epicentr) — in the guide on exporting to marketplaces.

Step-by-step catalog migration checklist

Let's put the whole process into one list so nothing is missed.

💡 Main advice: You can keep the store on Prom.ua to increase sales — it is an additional sales channel, but it is not always financially justified: you have to pay for both platforms. The best option is to move the domain to the new site with path redirects (301) so you do not lose SEO weight and traffic. Otherwise, if the product descriptions are not unique, the new site will duplicate Prom.ua — search engines will see duplicates.
When paying for any tariff, the BooStore.pro team performs a free site transfer — specialists will migrate the data (categories, products, pages) and help you set up the mobile menu, you do not have to do it manually.

❓ Frequently asked questions about migrating from Prom.ua

Answers to the questions most often asked when moving a catalog from Prom.ua to your own online store.

How much does it cost to transfer a catalog from Prom.ua to my own store?

Data migration is an import of a file (CSV/XLS/XML) into the BooStore.pro admin panel, and it is done with no extra charge. The store itself on BooStore.pro works on a SaaS model: hosting from $3/month, with no sales commissions. You migrate the catalog once and then pay only the fixed hosting cost of your site.

In what order should I import the data?

The correct order: first import categories, then add product types and characteristics to the site database (Store → Product types and characteristics), and only then import the catalog (products). After that the main menu is created, and on its basis the mobile menu. This order guarantees that products immediately attach to categories and characteristics.

How do I transfer product images from Prom.ua?

During import enable the «Split the cell with images» option — the system will automatically split the image list (which on Prom.ua lies in one cell) and load each one as a separate product image. The «Rewrite images in text» option will substitute correct paths for images inside descriptions so there are no broken links: if descriptions contain paths to images and the same images exist on the products, they will be taken already from the new site, not from Prom.ua — this is important for SEO.

Will I lose Google positions when moving from Prom.ua?

To avoid losing positions, set up 301 redirects from the old pages to the new ones, connect sitemap.xml in Search Console, fill in SEO meta and Schema.org. BooStore.pro provides a full set of SEO tools: SEO URLs, canonical, robots.txt, fast caching and PageSpeed 100/100, which helps keep and even improve positions.

Can I keep selling on Prom.ua after the move?

Yes. BooStore.pro has a ready Prom.ua CSV price (csv_promua_feed.csv) that exports products immediately in Russian and Ukrainian. You pass the price link to the Prom.ua seller account, and prices with stock update automatically. This way your own store and Prom.ua work in parallel.

How do I set up the main and mobile menu after the migration?

The main menu is created in «My Blocks/Menus» through a functional menu: add the «Catalog category» item and the subcategories expand automatically (the display mode is chosen in the design editor). The mobile menu (the «Mobile menu: App» widget) is automatically filled from the main one; icons, colors and the order of items are configured in it. More — in the block/menu and mobile menu instructions in the knowledge base.
